Jaisalmer is a hub for heritage and history. As we all know that Rajasthan is known as Kingsland, where leather was one of the most used goods. the tradition and heritage, original leather goods production became widely known. However, in the last few decades original leather is becoming less popular as artificial and chemically made leather products are boosting.
Therefore, my father, Mr Paras Ram Khatri, the founder of Veenu Leather Shop, started the 1st leather goods shop in Jaisalmer when he was 17 years old, amidst the most popular tourist destination. He aimed to do something different that no one else thought of doing. He did his research and learnt that leather has a potential in the future and people would love to have ( get leather handbags and accessories).
As young as 17 years, he designed his first products and started selling from a small shop – called Veenu Leather Shop. His mission was to produce articles made from original leather hide which is naturally tanned and does not contain any chemical. Taking inspiration from the heritage of Rajasthan, he had employed traditional artisans and craftsmen working and hand-made the leather bags, backpacks, footwears and so on.
Below you can see Mr Paras selling leather bags from his shop from a time when owning a camera was rare. that one of the foreign tourists visited his shop and captured him selling his designs. She bought the products, took them to her country and loved them so much that she ordered more of the products and sent this picture through an international post.
“ I want to do something
where he can apply his creativity and create designs that sell in the world.
